The apostle Peter’s speech at Pentecost in Acts 2:22-23 specifically states that Jesus was “nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put to death.” Acts was written by Luke, who is considered a preeminent historian in class the finest historians of antiquity.

Acts was written before both Peter’s death in 67-68 AD–so Peter would have been alive. Luke states in his introduction to the Gospel of Luke that the info was compiled from eyewitnesses who were there from the beginning of Jesus’ ministry.
